12-Day South Sudan Expedition Tour
Fly or drive from Addis Ababa to Gambella, western Ethiopia, gateway to South Sudan. Visit Gambella National Park’s wetlands and the Baro River.
Overnight: Gambella.
Cross into South Sudan via Pagak border or take a flight to Juba, the capital city. Afternoon city tour including John Garang Mausoleum, Juba Market, and the Nile waterfront.
Overnight: Juba.
Drive north to the Mundari tribal lands. Visit their spectacular cattle camps, where thousands of long-horned Ankole cattle are herded, and experience the sunset smoke rituals.
Overnight: Camping or local guesthouse near Terekeka.
Full day with the Mundari people—learn about their cattle culture, body art, and traditional way of life. Sunset photography at the cattle camp.
Overnight: Camping.
Drive to Bor, the cultural heart of the Dinka tribe, one of the largest ethnic groups in South Sudan. Visit traditional homesteads and meet local elders.
Overnight: Bor.
Return to Juba and fly or drive east to Kapoeta, near the Kenyan border. This is the land of the Toposa people, known for their beaded decorations and unique customs.
Overnight: Kapoeta.
Spend a full day visiting Toposa villages. Observe their handmade jewelry, huts, and traditional dancing. Learn about their close relation to the Turkana of Kenya.
Overnight: Camping or local lodge in Kapoeta.
Drive to Boma National Park, one of Africa’s largest and least-explored protected areas. Home to elephants, kob, buffalo, and seasonal migrations.
Overnight: Camping inside the park.
Full-day game drive in Boma National Park. Spot wildlife and enjoy the serene wilderness. Picnic lunch in the bush.
Overnight: Camping.
Drive through scenic hills and remote settlements to Torit, an important town in the Equatoria region. Explore markets and interact with the Lotuko people.
Overnight: Torit.
Return to Juba, stopping at rural villages along the way. Evening farewell dinner on the banks of the Nile.
Overnight: Juba.
Morning at leisure for shopping and a short city walk. Transfer to Juba International Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.
End of tour.

📝 SMT Tour – Cancellation Policy
🙋♂️ Cancellation by You (the Traveler)
- 📅 More than 30 days before the tour: Full refund minus a 10% administrative fee.
- 📅 15–30 days before the tour: 50% refund of the total booking amount.
- 📅 Less than 15 days before the tour: No refund.
🏛️ Cancellation by SMT Tour
In rare cases, if SMT Tour must cancel a tour, you will receive a full refund. Whenever possible, we will also offer alternative dates or similar tour options.
🔄 Changes to Your Booking
Changes such as dates or number of travelers are subject to availability and may incur additional charges. Please contact us as early as possible to make adjustments.
🌪️ Force Majeure
SMT Tour is not responsible for cancellations due to events beyond our control, including natural disasters, political unrest, or pandemics. We will assist with rescheduling or providing credit for future tours.
💳 Refund Process
Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7–14 business days after cancellation confirmation.
