Depart from Afar via the Galafi border. Cross into Djibouti and drive toward Djibouti City through striking desert and volcanic landscapes. Check into your hotel and relax after the journey.
Overnight: Djibouti City.
Morning drive to Lake Assal — the lowest point in Africa at 155 meters below sea level. Admire the surreal salt flats and turquoise waters. Continue to Goubet Bay, known for its rugged coastline and dramatic geological formations.
Overnight: Camping or lodge near Lake Assal.
Trek to Ardoukoba Volcano, one of the youngest volcanoes in the world. Enjoy panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley and the Gulf of Tadjoura from the summit.

Drive to Tadjoura, one of the oldest towns in the Horn of Africa. Stroll through its whitewashed houses, palm groves, and charming coastal streets. Spend the afternoon relaxing or swimming at Sables Blancs Beach.

Cross the Gulf of Tadjoura by ferry to return to Djibouti City. Enjoy a short city tour including the bustling central market and the historic old harbor before departure.

🙋♂️ Cancellation by You (the Traveler)
- 📅 More than 30 days before the tour: Full refund minus a 10% administrative fee.
- 📅 15–30 days before the tour: 50% refund of the total booking amount.
- 📅 Less than 15 days before the tour: No refund.
🏛️ Cancellation by SMT Tour
In rare cases, if SMT Tour must cancel a tour, you will receive a full refund. Whenever possible, we will also offer alternative dates or similar tour options.
🔄 Changes to Your Booking
Changes such as dates or number of travelers are subject to availability and may incur additional charges. Please contact us as early as possible to make adjustments.
🌪️ Force Majeure
SMT Tour is not responsible for cancellations due to events beyond our control, including natural disasters, political unrest, or pandemics. We will assist with rescheduling or providing credit for future tours.
💳 Refund Process
Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7–14 business days after cancellation confirmation.
